只是，片子开始没多久，我就猜到一定是某项革新的试验工程，试图造福人类，而最后总会产生致命的缺陷而毁灭人类。我一直猜测主角与这个工程的关系，只是最后还是有点失望，没有更深层次的秘密。

用这种失忆+密闭空间探索形式，你必须习惯这种镜头，从一片茫然四处碰壁到渐渐发觉线索，还原记忆，这才是此类悬疑的核心看点。许多人对前20分钟无法忍受，我感觉十分不解。这时候恰恰是我们抓住伏笔和线索的良机。

Forawhilethere,itseemedtomethatFrenchfilmmakerscoulddonowrong,especiallywhenitcametocreatingexcellentandoriginalThrillersandHorrormovies.Afterall,theygaveusMartyrs,HighTension,Frontiers,Inside,13Tzameti,andTellNoOneinrecentyears.SoimaginemysurprisewhenthetwomostrecentFrenchfilmsIhavewatchedturnedouttobesuchgreatdisappointments.ImightevengosofarastosaythatitisrefreshingtoknowthattheFrenchtoocanmakelacklustergenrepiecesjustlikeus.IamreferringtoDante01,whichIpreviouslyreviewed,andnowEdenLog.AftereverythingthatIhadseen,andhavingwaitedpatientlyforitsreleaseonDVD,IhadveryhighexpectationsforEdenLog.AndperhapsthoseexpectationsareinparttoblamefortheletdownthatIfeltafterwatchingthemovie.Butnonetheless,itwasevenmoredisappointingthanDante01.

Amanawakensalone,nakedanddisorientedinawetcave.Coldandunabletospeak,hehasnoideawhoheisorwhereheis.Hestumblesaboutthecaveandeventuallycomesuponaholographicimagewelcominghimandofferinghimthefirstcluesastohiswhereabouts.Itbecomesclearthatheisdeepundergroundandthathemustsomehowfindhiswaytothesurface.Hisjourneytothesurfacetakeshimthroughalabyrinthoftunnelsandcavernswhereheencountersstrangemutantcreatures,soldierswhoseemintentoncatchinghim,andofcoursetheplant.Witheachsucceedinglevel,themysteryoftheplantanditsrelationshiptomanisexposed,andheslowlybecomescognizantofwhoheisandwhathistruepurposeis.

robablythebestthingthatIcansayaboutthefilmisthatvisually,itisverycoollooking.AndfromwhatIunderstand,thedirectorFranckVestielmanagedtoachievethiswithameagerbudget.Itisalmostmonochromatic,withmetallicgrayseeminglybeingthesinglecolorthroughouttheentiremovie.IhadtocheckmyselftowardstheendwhenIbegantothinkthatIwaswatchingablackandwhitefilm.Infactthereisreallyonlyonescene,midwaythroughthemovie,wherecolorreallycomesintoplay.Ihadtorecallthissceneinordertosnapmyselfoutofmyblackandwhitehaze.Theentirefilmisverydark,almostannoyinglyso.Itisdifficulttotellwhatisactuallyhappeningmostofthetime.Thefirstfiveminutesofthefilmshouldhavebeenadeadgiveawayforwhatwasinstore.Onecanbarelymakeouttheactionasthemandragshimselfoutofapuddleandstumblesaboutthecave,theentirescenelitintermittentlyasthefeeblelightsourcestrobesslowlyonandoff.Theendresultwasjustannoyingandoffputting.Whileitwouldbelogicalthatanundergroundsettingbedark,andthatthedarkhereservesasadevicetoheightentensionandthesenseoftheunknown,itisoverdoneandendsupbecomingmoreofadistraction.Thedarkalsocouldbeseenasameansbywhichthefilmmakershidtheshortcomingsoftheproduction.

TheotherpositivecommentthatIcanmakeforthefilmanditsmakersisthatatleasttheytriedtodosomethingoriginalanddifferent.Thisisnotyouraveragecookiecuttersciencefictionhorrormovie.Thestoryisoriginalevenifitsthemeisnot.Butunfortunately,thatallgetslostinthedelivery.IhadtogototheIMDbmessageboardsandreadhowotherviewersinterpretedthemoviejusttoreconcilemyownfeelingsaboutit.Theactingisforthemostpartnondeｓｃｒｉｐｔ.Therearefewcharactersandverylittledialogue.Ourprotagonistutterslittlemorethanagruntuntilaboutthehalfwaypointofthemovie.Andforhowlittletimeweactuallygettospendwithanyoftheothercharacters,includingthemutants,theirperformanceswereuninspiring.Andagain,withpropstothedirectorfortryingtodosomethingoriginalwithintheconstraintshefaced,themoviereallyseemedhaphazard.Thereseemedtobelittleconnectionbetweenthestopsontheprotagonist’sjourney.Onewouldthinkthatwitheachsucceedingleveltherewouldbesomecorrelationtothepreviouslevelandperhapsanideaofwhatisinstoreonthenextlevel.Buttome,thereseemedtobenorelationbetweentheexperienceshefacedonhisjourney.AsmuchasIwantedtolikethemovie,especiallygivenmyenthusiasmtoseethefilmgoingin,Ijustcouldn’tgetpastallofitsshortcomings.Iwouldhavetosaycoolplot,idea,andlook,butunfortunatelyfailedinitsdelivery.

《伊甸木》影评(三)：人吃人的社会

统治者开发了一种新能源‘伊甸木’供给整个社会，许诺只要人们勇于奉献，辛勤劳作就能有一个美好的伊甸园式的未来（树上的立方体果实），其实这个许诺永远实现不了。‘伊甸木’的最下层是被吸食的体无完肤的工人阶层；第二层是挣扎在这个系统中不能自拔的工薪阶层；第三层是最自由的上流社会，但是最后她发现自己也被污染了，也只不过是统治者的工具和玩物罢了（所以愤恨的离开了主人公）；最上边一层是暴力的统治者，警卫长（主人公）就是他们的代表。由于‘伊甸木’产生了毒素（社会弊端的必然结果）使得工人阶层发生暴动，警卫长带领一队人马下去镇压，结果被工人打得暂时失忆了，影片就从这里开始。

《伊甸木》影评(四)：伊甸木EdenLog

2012.3.9观影：

偶尔换台时翻到了这部影片，开场的黑暗使我意识到是部惊悚片。出于对惊悚片的热爱，算是耐着性子等到了结局。

正如很多影评中提到开场的前20分钟，在黑暗与煎熬中度过，偶尔有一丝亮光却一闪而过。画面恍惚，环境，人物肮脏，无言语交谈，只有急促的呼吸和远处若有若无的异响。整个故事情节无精彩之处，有些情节交代的也并不清晰。在观影过程中我去查阅了网上的简介，才稍稍能将影片内容大致看懂。

摘抄影片核心内容：

-4层的人，身处在绝境之中，面对主角，只能劝他自杀。

-3层的人，生命已经枯萎。他曾企图重生大自然，却以失败告终。

-2层的人，不可置信地看到未曾受到污染、反而能使自然重生的人。

-1层的人，那是一个夏娃，和纯洁的亚当吃下了禁果。
